Theatre NO99
Noises Off!

Theatre NO99 was founded in 2004 and produced its first play in 2005. The theatre has a permanent 11-member troupe of actors. Three to four new plays are produced each season. Tiit Ojasoo-Ene-Liis Semper and the troupe often cooperate to create plays by improvising scenes and texts using the ideas of the directors as reference points. The play ultimately takes shape through these improvisations. Such plays figure prominently in the theatre’s repertoire

In recent years, several productions have been notably successful internationally: they have participated in almost thirty reputable international festivals, including Wiener Festwochen, Cut & Paste 2 (HAU, Berlin), Baltic House (St. Petersburg), Politik im Freien Theater (Cologne), auawirleben (Berne), KONTAKT (Torun, Poland), Teatterikesä in Tampere (Tampere Theatre Festival), and so on.

Tiit Ojasoo and Ene-Liis Semper

Have been working together as directors for the past eight years. During that period, they have brought 13 productions to the stage. Together they are the founders, creative directors and the only in-house directors of NO99 Theatre. They have repeatedly earned awards for Estonia’s best director, best stage production and best stage designer.

Frayn / Ojasoo / Semper

Farce, believe it or not.

The comedy "Noises Off!" by Michael Frayn is being produced by Tiit Ojasoo and Ene-Liis Semper. Although internationally so far known mostly by their political productions, they have produced Abee, Shakespeare, McDonagh and other well-known authors as well. This time it`s Frayn`s turn.

Iphigenia in Aulis

Euripides / Marshall

A family, national honour, a war fought on high principles. But what happens when the needs of the war machine demand the life of a child? When the honourable justification for war is a cover for greed and self interest? How do we live with the choices we make?

Euripides wrote "Iphigenia at Aulis" at the end of his life, after witnessing decades of war in Greece - victory, defeat, and the price that people pay. Sadly, what was true around 400 BC, is still true today. Certain problems never go away, it seems.

This is a powerful piece, not only in its timeless subject matter, but also in its style - Euripides was not afraid to juxtapose dark comedy against the tragedy of human choices, or to put psychological realism alongside the physical energy of the chorus.

Exciting, tragic, funny - this is a masterwork from a master writer. One which cuts to the heart of human choice.
